The 2009 Start of May, or May Day, was the first spring holiday event^[1]. Many lilies started growing across RuneScape, even in random events. These lilies could be wielded and given to other players. Following the event, all flowers were removed from the game. This was the first spring event and caused some complaint on forums, as it seemed to be very limited in content. Some people were a bit annoyed because the recent April Fool's event also contained no permanent items. But overall, since this was simply a bonus event that had never occurred before, the reaction was fairly positive.
