  • 04 - DW: The Moonbase Episode 4 is first broadcast. Last use of the original 1963 opening credits sequence and theme arrangement.
  • 11 - DW: The Macra Terror Episode 1 is first broadcast. A new title sequence and updated logo and a new arrangement of the theme with added echo are added; with some adjustments, this theme arrangement would remain in use until 1980. First appearance of the lead actor's face in the opening credits, a practice remaining in use until 1989.
- John Barrowman is born in Glasgow, Scotland.

  • 01 - DW: The Evil of the Daleks Episode 7 is first broadcast, ending the fourth season. According to REF: The Official Doctor Who & the Daleks Book, Terry Nation withdraws the rights to use to the Daleks from the BBC in order to attempt launching a spinoff series; as a result, except for a couple of references, the Daleks do not properly appear again until 1972's DW: Day of the Daleks.
  • DWN: Doctor Who in an Exciting Adventure with the Daleks receives its first American paperback publication by Avon Books. This is the first Doctor Who novel to be published in the US and the only American edition published until the late 1970s.
  • 18 - Paul Cornell born.
  • 22 - The monster movie Kingu Kongu no gyakushû is released in Japan. In 1968 the film is renamed King Kong Escapes and is released in the US. The English-language version of the film is notable for the name given to the villain of the piece -- Dr. Who.
  • A film adaptation of The Winter's Tale receives initial showings in the US. The film features Tom Baker, making his film debut, in a bit role.

Scientist Franz Zorb uses Stagg Enterprises laboratories to create his Chemo-Robots which he uses against Metamorpho. The robots then destroy much of Stagg Mansion. Metamorpho #12 6.67

The alien Thunderer and his emissary Neutrog come to Earth intent on conquering it. Neutrog hits Metamorpho with an atomic pile that makes him radioactive. Too dangerous to remain on Earth, Metamorpho is forced to exile himself into outer space. Metamorpho #14 10.67

The Thunderer sends Metamorpho and Element Girl into a sub-atomic world where their bodies are separted into various pieces. They eventually reconstitute themselves, return to Earth and defeat the Thunderer. Members of the Thunderer's race arrive to take him away. Metamorpho #15 12.67
