  • American gunfighter and lawman Wild Bill Hickok (1837-1876) reaches the height of his notoriety. In the 20th century, he would be commemorated as a folk and western movie hero. In 1999, an employee of a hospital in San Francisco will obtain a Wild Bill Hickok costume to wear at a New Year's Eve party, but it will instead be appropriated by the newly regenerated Eighth Doctor, who will adopt it as his standard mode of dress.
