Coronation Street history

• 1946 - Harold Pearce marries Phyllis Grimes.
• 1965 - Elsie Tanner picks up businessman Robert Maxwell at the "Fox and Hounds" pub in Cheshire. On the way back from the pub, Maxwell collapses at the wheel of his car which then crashes.
• 1971 - Elsie Howard finishes Janet Reid's affair with husband Alan when she makes sure that she leaves the area.
• 1980 - Deirdre and Tracy Langton move into the Corner Shop flat.
• 1993 - Maureen Holdsworth and Curly Watts have a drunken one-night stand.
• 1994 - Les Battersby marries Janice Lee
• 2000 - Jez Quigley, badly beaten up by Jim McDonald struggles from his own hospital room to Steve's and starts to attack him but suddenly collapses and dies.
• 2003 - Shelley Unwin and Lucy Barlow both realise that they have married bigamist Peter Barlow.
• 2006 - Having almost killed her own baby, Claire Peacock is sectioned in hospital.
• 2008 - Dev Alahan is introduced by Prem Mandal to his daughter Tara (First appearance of the character).

• 1990 - Director Barry Davis died.
